Available Business Incentive Programs

Lack of coordination allows viable funding opportunities to leak through the cracks. The Greenhouse administers local business initiatives and grant programs funded by the City of St. Petersburg to allow for simple coordination efforts to help businesses start and grow. The following programs are currently available:

Commercial Revitalization Program

The Commercial Revitalization Program (CRP) provides grant money to St. Pete projects located outside of the downtown core and the South St. Petersburg CRA that involve future work on a new or existing commercial building or development and meet the following goals:

  • provide visible improvements to a building or site
  • decrease commercial vacancy rates
  • create or retain jobs
  • improve the quality of life for surrounding neighborhoods
  • create new commercial space

Application period opens Monday, September 23, 2019 at 9:00 am. Applications will be accepted until Monday October 21, 2019 at 5:00 p.m.

Grow Smarter Job Creation and Talent Attraction Program

The Grow Smarter Job Creation and Talent Attraction Program awards companies with 49 employees or less that hire new employees at salaries above Pinellas County’s average wage. Companies must be identified within one of the city’s five target industry clusters: Marine and Life Sciences, Specialized Manufacturing, Financial Services, Data Analytics, and Creative Arts and Design.

For each new job created at 115% or more of the average county wage, the incentive amount is $3,000 per new job. Greater awards are available to companies paying higher wages. For each new job created and filled by a resident of the City of St. Petersburg, there will be a bonus $2,000 incentive paid and for each job created and filled by a resident of the South St. Petersburg Community Redevelopment Area, there will be a bonus $3,000 incentive paid. Employees hired under this Program must remain employed by the company for at least twelve months for the company to claim the incentive. The incentive will be paid at the end of the twelve-month period.
