Available Local Programs

Lack of coordination allows viable funding opportunities to leak through the cracks. The Greenhouse administers local business initiatives and grant programs funded by the City of St. Petersburg to allow for simple coordination efforts to help businesses start and grow. The following programs are currently available:

South St. Petersburg CRA Commercial Grant Programs

The City of St. Petersburg is launching the 2020 cycle of the South St. Petersburg Commercial Revitalization Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) Commercial Matching Grant Program, starting with the release of two place-based opportunities.

1) Commercial Site Improvement Grant provides a reimbursable matching grant of up to $20,000 to commercial property owners that upgrade their building façades, landscaping, lighting, loading and service areas and other features of their sites visible from the public right-of-way

2) Commercial Building Interior and Tenant Improvement Grant   provides a reimbursable matching grant of up to $20,000 for interior upgrades to commercial properties with a focus on projects that remedy degraded building systems and extend the economic viability of the building.

Boundaries of the CRA


The City will begin accepting CRA Commercial grant applications on Monday, February 24, 2020.

All applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2020.


** Note: Applications for each program will be available by February 1st, 2020 **

Between February 24, 2020, and March 6, 2020, please bring your application to The Greenhouse (City Hall Annex), located at 440 2nd Avenue North (just east of City Hall).  The office hours for the Annex are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

All application materials should be contained within a 9”x12” envelope, which has the name and mailing address of the applicant, the grant program for which you are applying, the address of the subject property and a contact phone number and email address. If you are applying for more than one grant, a separate envelope(s) must be used.

Grow Smarter Job Creation and Talent Attraction Program

The Grow Smarter Job Creation and Talent Attraction Program awards companies with 49 employees or less that hire new employees at salaries above Pinellas County’s average wage. Companies must be identified within one of the city’s five target industry clusters: Marine and Life Sciences, Specialized Manufacturing, Financial Services, Data Analytics, and Creative Arts and Design.

For each new job created at 115% or more of the average county wage, the incentive amount is up to $8,000 per new job.
